Q & A

Q
How can I make a reservation?

Our clinic requires by appointment only. Please make a appointment in advance by phone 416-486-0287 or email kojima@rogers.com.
Please come with a little extra time in time to make your first reservation.  It may take some time for the first visit to complete the medical record and interview, so please be sure to come 10 minutes before the treatment time.

Q
Is acupuncture painful?

A
Many people have the image of "pain" when it comes to acupuncture, but depending on your constitution and sensitivity, We can change the thickness of the acupuncture and the procedure to perform the treatment.  It doesn't hurt at all.

Q
How often should I visit?

Depending on the symptom, it is more effective to continue without a gap if there is sudden disease or symptom and pain is strong.  People with intractable diseases and chronic diseases should take 1-2 times a week, and health management and disease prevention should take 1-2 times a month.  Please feel free to contact us when you come to acupuncture treatment.

Q
Is acupuncture needles disposable?

A
Yes at our clinic, 100% of the acupuncture needles are disposable.
There is no worry about infection. Please be assured.

Q
How should I dress up for my appointment ?

A
Depending on the symptoms, only the affected area may be treated, but for Oriental medicine, comprehensive treatment is often performed.  Therefore, acupuncture and moxibustion treatments are performed using acupoints on the back and feet, so I recommend bring own clothes such as T-shirt and short pants (We also offer clothes for changing clothes).

Q
Does acupuncture make conditions worse?

A
Basically, there is no reason that acupuncture should make your condition worse unless you have a metal allergy.  If you feel that acupuncture is not appropriate, it is likely that your constitution was not compatible with the treatment method you used.  There are various types of acupuncture treatments.  I think that you can find a practitioner that suits you by changing the clinic.

Q
Are health insurance effective for acupuncture and moxibustion treatment?

A
OHIP does not  cover.  But if you have private insurance, ask your insurance company.  Depending on the plan, some insurance covers acupuncture and moxibustion.

Q
Is it safe to use with Western medicine?

A
The combination with Western medicine is basically no problem.  The combined use of the drug and acupuncture may speed up the symptoms and reduce the side effects of the drug.  In addition, there are many people who come to the treatment room with the feeling that they do not want to use drugs as much as possible.  Although synergistic effects have been observed in some cases when used in combination with Western medicine, please feel free to contact us as it may vary depending on symptoms and medical conditions.

Q
Is there a cancellation fee?

A
No cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations made before the final reception time on the day before the reservation date.  After that, a cancellation fee will be charged.

Q
How long are the acupuncture treatment?

A

If you are visiting for the first time, it will take some time, such as filling out a medical record and an interview, so please come 10 minutes before the treatment time.

Q
How can I pay the treatment fee?

A
Our clinic accepts cash , debit card ,checks
We don’t accept credit cards.

Q
Does acupuncture really work?

A
Consider the opposite.  Why are ineffective therapies for more than 2000 years?  The WHO (World Health Organization) also acknowledges that acupuncture is effective in many diseases.  Recently, it has been widely implemented not only in Asia such as China and Japan but also in the whole world.  However, the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment does not appear to all people.  Some diseases are not indicated for acupuncture and moxibustion treatment.
